Beginners courses
For adults over 18 only
Next Course
Our next course starts in October 2026.
Learn about kendo
Suitable for adults of all shapes and sizes, we run friendly kendo beginners’ courses.
Our courses are designed to start you out in kendo, taking you to the point where you can wear armour and safely take part in regular sessions.
You shouldn’t expect to become a kendo expert from this course. It’s about working towards key fundamentals so you are able to join the main class and continue your learning.
You will be taught by senior club members in a class of 10 to 20 students.
You will learn about
Kendo etiquette
Basic strikes
Basic footwork
Co-ordinating your movements
